1995 Formula here...Got thumbs up for simple looks and the ability to order it with a solid roof, no leather/power seats, no cruise, no rear defrost (which I guess was part of an option group). Power to weight all the way...HUGE sleeper appeal..Surprises everyone at the track...and on the street.

Re: Trans am or Formula

I had 96 ta,97 taws6 and now 99 taws6 and had a bunch of tas in the past like 77,78,have an 80 now. Had one formula 1980 think it was forget exactly what year it was.

I like the ta better personally. But the formula is a bit cleaner looking if you like that sort of look. I do have a 96z so thats about the same much cleaner looking than my ta but my ta looks meaner and more interesting to me.I think the 99 ta ws6 is one of the meanest looking cars every made..especially evil in black. Still menacing in your rearview in my red 99 ta ws6.

As for this forumulas are rarer argument its pretty lame to me. Less were sold as they were a model down from the ta and most guys went up to the ta or stayed with the v6 why would they go for the middle model unless they couldnt' afford the ta. If they would have made a pink trans am it would have been super rare too but really that is stupid arguement for buying one.

But they are slightly faster from less weight and they are a bit of a sleeper but with dual tailpipes not that much of a sleeper. Whatever floats your boat. I sure wouldn't be stupid enough to pay more for a "rarer" lower model than a more expensive when new but slightly more common trans am or trans am ram air.
And of course I like the bigger spoiler..the ram hood on the lt1 and especially the ls1 cars. I like my honeycomb 99 tailights and side air extractors.

Well, he's talking about either a C6 or a 5th gen. The cool thing is that because he's an accountant, he's inherently cheap When you drive your toy not even 1k per year, it becomes hard to justify stepping to a $45+ C6 And as for a 5th gen, if he does buy one, well...my GP is paid off in '07, so by the time a 5th gen comes out I will have had enough time to save a nice big down payment to buy the Formula off him He's a Camaro guy at heart, so I don't see him keeping the Formula long-term.

The cool thing is that the car was originally supposed to be mine. I ordered it for myself, and when it came in I drooled all over it, but couldn't bring myself to sell my 30th (which I am glad I didn't do...I'll never sell it). I called him up and told him to come down and have a look. We had ordered him a navy blue/black leather M6 Formula that came in a week later. He never needed to see that one...he took the SOM one 8 hours off the truck We sold his to another guy...

Sorry for the novel. But I love that car. I feel like it's parent because if I had never ordered it, it wouldn't exist today. And sorry, but I have dibs on this one. And I gotta tell ya, its going nowhere I already have SLP bolt on SFCs and an STB for it...the only mods it will ever get aside from Firehawk or TT2 wheels. It'll look great next to the 30th in the garage in a couple years.

Re: Trans am or Formula

I vote for TA. Nobody here bought a gass guzzlin V8 muscle/sports car to be conservative so why have a car that looks like a v6, which is very conservative. Most of us here bought a fast loud sports car to be anything but conservative, but instead be somewhat flashy. So why skimp out and buy a watered down version of the TA like the firebird? Nothing is better than the original right? Just my .03 cents
