I heard that the ZO6's have them on them, but I'm not sure, so don't hold me to it.

Matt,
Yeah it will work. When you got the guage new it shoud have cam with 2 fitting and the sensor. One fitting has a hole that the sensor will screw in to. It directly replaces the M6 drain plug on the passanger side of the tranny. HTH

How hot does an M6 tranny run anyway? How about an automatic?

I have a trans temp gauge in my m-6. It's in the drain hole in an adaptor fitting. I already had the gauge so I figured, why not. It slowly builds up heat in traffic in the summer and can get to 190-200 deg. F. finally. Usually, it's a lot less.

Acceptable A4 temp at idle can be as high as ~260º. There is a temperature sensor in the tranny to tell the pcm what the temp is. It will throw a code when the temp reaches 306º.

Where did you mount the guage? I have one too but the cable for it is only like 4-5 feet long so it seems that would limit you a bit.
