tranny temp

Ok, i got a 2800 stall vigilante, and a b&m trans cooler. And just recently hooked up a trans temp gauge. Just curious what the trans temp should be. Mine seems to be sittin steady at 180 if i do constant drivin, but in stop and go it goes up higher (obviously). Anybody got a trans temp gauge with this kinda stall and cooler in their car? If so let me know what yours is reading. Just wonder if it is accurate or not, or if i need to fix the ground again.

180 seems about right for ur car with a stall.

When I had my car programmed the first time, i saw the guy running the scanner on it. On average the tranny was between 165-175 with my tranny cooler installed.

AS long as ur staying under 200, ur tranny should be in good shape in terms of temperature.

Yeah, it has gotten above 200 when i have been in stop and go traffic. Was a little concerned about that, but so far on constant driving trips it seems to be sittin at 180ish at max. Any thoughts on it being over 200 in stop and go???

If ur sitting along in traffic, the Stall does't lock and kinda just free-wheels, sort of speak. So this heats up the tranny fluid more quickly. Plus, when ur stopped, ur not getting sufficient cooling to the tranny cooler cuz no air is flowing through it.

200 isn't going to necessarily kill ur tranny, but the cooler the better. As long as u stay out of the danger zone of 225-240, ur not doing any serious damage.

On a personal note, what do u think of that stall I was thinking of going with the exact same one for my setup. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Oh man, the stall is sick. It is just crazy, if you can find a vigilante on the board (which should be pretty easy), I recommend that you pick it up if the price is right. I am waiting to go to the track now that I have it, i am probably lookin at very deep 13s maybe even high 12s with excellent traction. It is a big jump from stock stall of 1800. Its really fun, with regular acceleration it takes a lot more on the gas to move it, but once it gets goin, you wont wanna stop!!!!
