Please help with my engine build up.

Here is the deal, I want 10's. I would love to do it N/A but will use the juice if I have to(most likey will). I am going with a 383 and I have to be emissions legal. So right now I am thinking of the cc305 or the cc306(but emissions). I don't have heads yet but will buy the heads that are needed.

Do heads affect emissions in any way?

Everything inside will be Forged so should I go with a nitrous set up or a N/A set up?

Will a Forged N/A set up be able to hold a 100-200 shot?

Forged will be plenty strong-

When you get a car into 10's NA and pass emisions- give me a call. I'll be waiting with a shovel.

Your best best is more nitrous (or well tuned turbo/blower)-

anyway emission and nitrous work a hell of a lot better together than NA- especailly when you start boogieing.

Build a bad *** bottom end. Get a small durration high lift cam I guess- that seems to be all the rave- with a nitrous/blower grind. Spray the **** out of it.

Just my 2 coins. A lot cheaper.

Good points by Trey as usual.

U have to figure out EXACTLY what u want out of ur motor before u start parting it together.

A forged 383 is a nice N/A motor, but not prone to high revving.

If ur getting into motor building, especially in a quest for 10s, ur gonna have throw emissions out the window.

The setup I personally am gonna run is a 355, 4340 SCAT crank, Eagle H-Beam Rods, and some Nitrous pistons, likely SRP. With this kinda of setup, I can rev the hell out of the thing, past 7000 (balanced and blueprinted of course ) Then put a 200 shottie on it and I'm ready to rock.

The Nitrous/Blower cam is a great idea for ur goals... It would cost u a lot of $$$$$ to stay N/A and go with a big N/A cam and some heavily ported heads.

i am going to rev to 6700 or so...
I dont feel the 3.75'' crank is enough to hinder spinning high- or at least that high.

once thing is for sure, more cubes will get you there a lot easier and cheaper.

as with any motor- its all going to be about the heads, cam and tuning right

ps-
7000rpms = pcm issues
be sure to get FAST or DFI...

thanx Trey, I'll keep that in mind.

6700 IS pretty good for a 383, plus ur doing it right

A few guys in my area who have built inferior 383s are only spinning them to 5800-6200.

What are the cause of tuning issues with revving past 7000? I haven't heard that before. I'd appreciate if u would elaborate.

PCM tends to have a heart attack and quit aroudn 7000. some get it at 6999 some at 7199. I dont know the deal. I'm just glad i have 300 rpm of saving grace
