I have a 1993 z28, and my A4 tranmission went out awhile ago, but it shifts up to 2nd gear, but not passed it (I took it to a tranny shop and they said I need a rebuild ). So I was wondering if I put it in "2," and didnt go an absurd RPM while driving it like that, would it hurt the car? Mind you, i'm only doing this temporarily until I get enough money to rebuild it. The highest RPM it gets to while doing the speed limit is 3000, which gets me to 55mph. Also, I watch the temp gauge, and it doesn't overheat. I've driven it like that for one day and it doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Do you think it will blow my engine or anything serious? Thanks for any input.

 

I just drove mine for a week with only 2nd and 3rd without a problem. But you're taking your chances!!
