Yeah it can be replaced pretty easily. Take a screwdriver and pry it out using the three pry spots on the seal. Once removed install the new one. If you bought the felpro Teflon seal use the white installing "tool" to help guide the seal on the crank. If you bought a non teflon, wipe it down with a little oil and slide in out. To get the seal completely on, I used a 4-5" pcv pipe and a chunk of wood to get it flush.

Really it's a straight foreward, easy install, with no need to drop the oil pan.

What's the need for an installing tool? Can't you just take the seal and adapter out completetly, put the seal in, and bolt it back to the block?

Are you talking about the housing that holds the rear main seal? There is no need to take that off, plus it requires dropping of the oil pan about 2" to get it out. You can take the seal out without removing anything else.

That install tool is something that Felpro includes in their rear main set that prevents damaging the telfon seal on install.
