Question Tranny Mount Options?

I broke my second stock tranny mount and replaced it with an Energy Suspensions Polyurethane one a few days ago. It was definately a double edged sword. It shifted firmer and felt more solid but made the car vibrate waaaay to much. As my car is a daily driver, i pulled it off and want something a little stronger than stock but not as harsh as the Poly unit. Doesn't GM make a 1LE unit or something? If so, how does it drive , part #, cost etc? Thanks,

Kyle

Kyle,
I've had a bunch of different mounts and none were as strong as the polymount obviously. I shift very hard and I was willing to sacrifice the smooth riding for this reason. When I sold the car I had to replace the mount or the buyer would've freaked out, so I went to an 1LE. I got a chance to shift pretty hard a few times on the 1LE and it had no problems handling it.... so I'd definetely recommend it.
I know GM replaced the 1LE (which is the same as the LS1 mount if I remember correctly) with a newer version that costs significantly more... at least that's the way it was a couple of months ago. I didn't get a chance to try the revised version though.

the 1LE is no better than the stock one (unless you drive like my grandma, but in that case you wouldnt have broke the stock one) use the poly one, youl get used to the vibrations in a couple of days and will not have to worry about doing the job anymore.

There is another kind of poly mount that isn't as harsh as the ES mount. Its made by "Prothane." Its just as durable as the ES mount, but it won't rattle you to death.

Are you trying to use the spacer that comes with the ES mount? Mine vibrated like a **** until I took it out. The vibration was because of the pinion angle.

Yep ditch that metal plate and give it a week. You won't even notice it anymore.

this is a double edged sword for sure.. one of the little tricks is that the motor mounts and the tranny mount were meant to be used in conjuction with one another.. the tranny mount alone messes up the pinion angle since your stock motor mounts are probably a bit saggy.. the people I know that have done both at once have never had a problem.. nor have I but it was a thirdgen..

Please do. If you can, try it without the plate and send me a PM. I may go back and try it again. Problemis, I already returned the Poly one. Let me know. Thanks,

I went from a stock mount, to a 1LE and now to a ES poly. I never broke the stocker, just wanted to upgrade to the 1LE. Looking at the stock and 1LE they looked identical to me, I really couldn't tell the difference and it didn't feel much different with it either. I just installed the poly one recently and I didn't notice any difference in vibrations, the car feels much tighter after it under hard acceleration. I used the spacer also, the instructions said you had to use it, so I did. One thing I've noticed here about vibrations problems with the ES mount is that many more A4 people report problems with them than do M6's. Just an observation.

I recently put a prothane mount in my car, vibrated like crazy and almost took it out. Me and my wife drove to Florida on vacation and by the time we got there, it had loosened up to the point that I didn't even notice it any more. Give it time, the poly will be well worth it!
