Tranny going south?
Tranny going south?
I've got a 96z w/ auto (103,000). Only mod I know of is a flowmaster. Last week I raced a 02'-03' GT
(prolly 3-5k) that was a 5 sp. from 60 he got a jump on me, he only had a car length at 120. My concern is I left it in OD and mashed it. It dropped into 2nd at 65 and didnt shft till 90 and 5600. How bad is that and seems like OD is slipping now? Should I be proud of my old dog? Or worried?

Shifting at 5600 is not bad at all...that is redline for the z28. I dont think there is a problem with that at all...whenever i go to the track I always leave it in OD. Dont really think it makes much of a difference. If the car is on its original tranny, then i would definitely think about doing something about the tranny slippage...but either way...it lasted a hell of a long time on the stock 4L60E.

dude when I went for max speed on my 97A, it didnt shift into OD until about 135mph or so. I remember thinking the car sucked just as it shifted. At the time it was only a year old. Got it up to 155
