Unhappy tranny acting funky..

Ok, heres the deal, 4l60e with 49k from an SS with a transgo kit and 2400 holeshot in it..

on the way back from class today it lost lockup and wouldn't shift down during a freeway challenge.. when I hit normal stop and go traffic the tranny would shift down but when shifting up would only shift at 4k, so every shift was tire screeching no matter what amount of throttle it was under..

Figured the tranny was dead, so it sat in the driveway while I was researching probuilts and t56 conversions.. I decided to try it again and all was fine.. took it out on the interstate and it locked up fine and downshifted when it was supposed to, all other in town shifts were likewise fine..

So any ideas what this is? did I run over a gremlin somewhere? should I count my lucky stars and upgrade to something else? As you can tell by the sig the car is not stock so some wrenching is never out of the question..

IMHO, i would say it is precursor of things to come. mine slipped intermitently in OD at times and then would be fine for months at a time. as soon as i did heads/cam tranny blew on 2nd wot run. i would say you are running on borrowed time.
