Traction/Performance Buttons on 95 T/A, CAN THESE BE BYPASSED?

I am going to a 97+ center consol, and there is no spot for the performance/traction buttons. But I would rather it automatically start with performance on, and traction off (so oppisite of normal).

Just wondering if anyone knows how to do this, can you just hook the wires together or something, or is there a module you can buy?

Thanks,
James

Check out SLP they make a device that does exactly what your looking for. It turns traction control off eveytime you start your car until you turn it on. Not badly priced either. Hope this helps you out.

this won't help you bypassing but if you wanted to hook them up functionaly like they are....

97+ bezel from a vert w/ traction control. it has a bezel, and 2 switchs which replaces the little storage compartment.

you can see it in the picture, infront of the shifter to the left.

you will have to be somewhat electronicly enclined, as the wiring harness will not match up. so you will need to find what pin/wire does what, and wire it up properly. i did it awhile ago on my old car (which is sold), had my perf. mode button rigged up, just needed a ohm meter, electrical tape, solder, and a general idea on what wire did what.

look into into it.

I was also thinking that maybe I could switch the hot wires, then it would think it was turning tcs on, but it would be turning perfomance on, and vice versa.

what do you guys think?

no idea, call dealer, prolly expensive lol. i got mine from a buddys wrecked car.

BlackLT1_TX, you really have to get the manual's and see how those switchs work. i know for instance on the perf. mode switch, it throws a temporary ground, and thats how it toggles the perf. mode. then another push grounds it again, and turns it off.

its something like 5 wires coming off the switch, 1 is ground, 1 is parking lamp light (so it lights up dimly when parking lamps are on), 1 is 12v, and others vary by switch.

i am doing this all from memory, so please get a manual, and follow wires, and check it all.

I checked out SLP and Hood_Lum was right, they are for 97 and up. Sorry about that I knew they made one but I guess I never looked at the year range closely enough. If you figure out a way though for earlier models let me know b/c I would be interested in doing the same to my 95 Z.
