Pulled the TR55's out of the wife's vert today and she put in the factory double platinums and the car runs WAAAAY better. Used to be the car would just spin the tires through first and that was it. Now, it smokes the tires through first and about half of second (this is an auto, by the way...)

Do these plugs suck that bad??

In that case, I should have about 17,500 miles left on them. When we swapped the plugs, you could feel a definite decrease in power. Put the stockers back in (new ones) and the car runs a ton better.

The TR55's only have about 2500 miles on them.

 

What was the gap....

 

My tr-55s made my car run a HELL of a lot better. My old idle actually sounded like i had a helicopter flying over head because it was sooo choppy. Now its smooth as a passanger airline as i describe it. I gapped mine at .050 and switched to taylor spiro pro wires. They gave me some added power for sure.

 

the funny thing is give ngk a call and tell them about your car and they will give you a number of a plug to run. i see alot of guys on here getting these just because someone else here has them. you dont buy plugs that way. i find my plugs just as important as cam selection

NGK's suck for f-bodys unless you have lots of nitrous. They are a cold burning plug and do not self clean. So they gunk up really fast and hinder performance.

 

Guess I'll leave the Delco Rapidfire #14s in for a while yet. Hopefully
my problem was only the opti.

I don't think thats true. I've heard nothing but good things about them and almost everyone seems to use them. I don't know about the durability yet but i felt a huge increase in performance when i switched to them. I got all 8 for 10$ so they werent expensive and they do work for now.

 

I do agree that the price is teh suck on the stockers.... $52 for 8 of them.... Not sure why, but I did notice a performance increase on the stockers over the NGK's. No matter now as the wife wants nitrous on her car now.... Guess I'll be doing this all over again next weekend.
