TR55 or TR6??

I am doing a bit of a tune up to the LT1.. Its got a new engine with domed higher compression pistons, all forged, heads and cam. I was and AM running the TR55 NGK's and have had no problems but I have heard that the TR6 NGK's are better for higher than stock compression?? My compression is a little over 11:1 now and I think stock is what 10.3:1? Anyways i have a fuel pump on the way, Taylor 8mm wires, and all i need now is to order the plugs... Any imput appreciated. Thanks.

If you're not running big N/A or a power adder, you'll be fine with TR55s.

Re: TR55 or TR6??

The TR6 is one heat range colder than stock. Examine the color of the TR55's (stock heat range); they should be a light grey/tan color for the proper heat range. If they look white, you're running too hot and you want a colder plug. Also the gap is closer on the TR6 (approxiamtely .040"); the TR55's are gapped at .050" which is probably what you want to run.

The taylor wires aren't that great. I would stick to the MSD's. The tr55's should be fine. Step to the tr6's if your going to spray.

I have had the taylors on the car and havent had many problems... Are the MSD's that much better?? Also i was told that I have to get the universal ones that you have to cut to fit... Is that true? I have the AS&M Midlengths on mine... Thanks for the info, i'm gonna stick with the TR55's

Re: TR55 or TR6??

I have the AS&M headers too. The MSD wires get more voltage to the plugs then the Taylors. They also don't make the greatest connection on the opti. We got a deal on the Tayor wire sets, and we have had a few problems with them. The MSD wires was have had the least problems with out of any wire set. You only have to get a universal kit if you are useing a over the valve cover wire loom kit. Checkput Byunspeed.com for prices. He has been the cheepest and don't charge shipping and handling. Good luck with what ever you do. I'm just trying to help with what I been through already.

I guess that would make your car not bone stock. I used them on my motorcycle's for years. I've run all different kinds of wires on all my cars, But I really noticed the MSD's to work the best for me and others.

My taylors arc when they are to close together. The over the vavle cover loom should help keep the wires apart. But on the pass side where it goes down to the opti there is no room. With the taylors I had to sleeve the wires to keep them from arcing together. The MSD's I didn't have that problem. Now I sleeve any wires I use.
