Thumbs down THis is total BS, need to get this solved

Ok, my car has been running great, unless i drive in rain for about 20 mins, then the car started surging, and ocationally knocking. The car wont accelerate until it hits like 3.5k rpms, then it kicks in and hauls ***, but this is very dangerous, because I have BFG comp T/A's and when the car kicks in, it is near impossible not to spin the tires. People have told me to go to a different opti, but my opti is fine, and im not sure how a different one would help me. Is there anyway i can prevent this from getting wet, is that even the problem??...There has to be someone else with this weird inconvienint problem.

sounds to me like a typical sealed Opti problem...

or unsealed in this case...

Your opti is getting wet.. and thus causing your stumble...

Heck, my car will do the same thing if I don't have it running and wash the engine bay.. until it dries out... the bottom end is a dog.

I had the same problem as you but mine turned out to be because of my Hooker Long tubes were so low that water was fouling the o2 sensors. So not sure if that is your problem but if your o2's are in the stock location I would look at the opti.

Well it looks like he has a 94 firehawk so going off of that he has the SLP Ram air hood, same as mine and the only time I ever got my filter wet is when I misjudged a puddle and the water went over my hood and in the vents.

I have the stock 94 firehawk airbox, its a k & n, and it seals with the hood, but on a 94 firehawk, the ram air holes arent very large at all. But maybe thats a possiblitly, but its pretty hard to get around houston with this problem right now, hence the hurricane, thanks for the help

N20 hawk, i have a white a4 1994 white hawk too, yours is acutally the only other one i have ever seen, same teal graphics too. Do you run the stock ROH wheels when you dont have the draglites on?..they are personally my favorite wheels on hawks.

Actually my ROH's are at a shop right now being powdercoated silver again and I am also in search of a centercap since one of mine flew off. So I am daily driving the draglites.

I had the EXACT problem.

Mine was a combo of a dying fuel pump and dying opti.

Happened to me with my Hooker LTs.

The O2 sensor wires were getting wet.

I taped them up with electrical tape.

No problems for the last 8 months.
