Torque converter...whats the best one??

My wife wants to put a torque converter in her car. She likes how mine works so now she wants one. What is the best tc for the 4L60E?? And for a stock '95 LT1, what stall speed should I go with? We have no plans for big changes to the motor, so it will stay relatively stock while we own it. What should I go with here?

In my GTA I have a TCI 3000, but I also have the cam and heads to take advantage of it. My friend installed a B&M 2200 in his stock '88 GTA notchback, and he know wishes he had gone with a 2800-3000 stall. So I'm a little stuck as to what to do with the wifes LT1. Any help would be great!

Vigilante converters are real value. Yank also makes some great converters as well. They're a lot more out there that i'm sure some other people can give input on.

Well you are probably going to get as many "for's" as againsts for any particular brand. Like you, I have a 3000 in my car and absolutly love it. If your not looking for any more big upgrades, my buddy got a 2200 put in his 95 which although was small, was just a little larger than stock and is still very drivable. (the tranny shop wouldn't do a bigger because of warranty.)

When and if you buy a torque converter pm me please. I have a bad tranny and I am thinking of some options and one of them may envolve a new torque converter.

I'm guessing that both of you guys have experience with the Vigilante (??spelling) 2800. I thought that might have been to tall for stock. What kind of 1/4 mile gain would you see from this? I have heard and read that t/c's can reduce you e/t by as much as 3-5 tenths. Unfortunately I installed mine when I installed the heads and cam, intake, NX kit, etc. So I didn't get a chance to see what the converter did over my old times. It was just one big drop in e/t! Although I think it is pretty save to say that the 3:42's we are going to install and a 2800 converter would turn her 14.46 e/t into some 13.9's or less.

Another vote for the PI Vigilante. I had a 2500, I should have got a 2800. Why are you only going to a 3.42 gear why not go all the way to a 3.73?

I do remember something about OBD I cars having issues with high stall converters, but I don't remember how high is too high.
Someone should know though.

The reason for the 3:42's is I got them cheap! They came out of a friends blown 10 bolt. Side axle was destroyed so he replaced it with a Moser 12 bolt with all the bells and whissles!

I have never heard of this problem with the tc's though? Anyone else?
