Torque converter lockup switch install guide inside...

I installed a TCC lockup switch on my T/A this morning, and thought I'd share the information. I haven't seen a TCC install guide anywhere online for 4th gen. f-bodies (at least ones that don't have broken links anyway...), so I put it all on film. I hope this sees good use.

TCC lockup switch install.

Comments are welcome.

Sure need that info. I noticed I go thru the lights at 4900 rpm due to the coverter lockup.

I apologize for removing the article. The original instructions I had given were inaccurate, so I decided to take it down before someone caused damage to their car. I have since redid the install, but made no guide for the switch. I can, however, give you a quick run-down on how to do it.

NOTE: These instructions work for 1995 OBDI cars, and should work for every other year. If it doesn't, sorry.

Find the PCM connector D, and pin 11 (pin 11 should be a tan/black wire).

Remove 1" of insulation from the wire, and splice in a long length of similar gauge wire.

Run the wire to a single pole switch, then from the switch to ground. Make sure all connections are tight.

When you flip the switch, the TCC lockup solenoid will engage. Regardless of the switch position, the PCM will retain factory lockup conditions.

Here's a brief diagram...

PCM pin 11---------------------to TCC solenoid.

Hope that drawing comes out nicely...

Re: Torque converter lockup switch install guide inside...

My Friend with his Auto LS1 car had a switch for lockup as well... however with an added benefit... he had a light in the switch as well.

Everytime the computer locked up the converter, the light would go on.... and if the switch was "flipped" the light would stay on all the time.

So u can actually tell what the computer is doing even when not using the switch.

Thanks for the info on the wiring.
