Torque Converter or Cam?

I was planning either one or the other. They will both end up being the same amount of money, so thats not an issue. Which one should go first. I know I want the cc305 cam, and right now i'm not sure if I'm going to end up doing heads in the future or not. Which one would you guys recommend?

Thanks,

JJ

A good 9.5" torque converter (A.C.T., Vigilante, etc.) with a 2,400 rpm stall or higher, will give you more of a performance gain, than any cam change. I would do this first then the cam. You can always get the stall changed (for free) if your not happy with it, in the first year.

2800 stall. It will feel a bit weird if it is daily driven but will give you better performance than a cam. That and a good DR could be the best mods you do to your Z28. A friend got .6 from the stall + another .2 from being able to hook up from 2800 rpm.

I know, a friend of mine has similar mods but he has a TC and ran a 12.9. I guess the TC is the way to go then. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to me, i get the TC and then get a cam to complement it.

I going to go against the crowd and say cam. TQ's are nice but I think you will get more out of a cam. I dropped in a 306 and it feels much stronger than a TQ change.

Most cam makers will tell you to get the torque converter first, otherwise you will comeback at him with driveability problems.
