Perhaps he's still talking about a torque arm but connecting it to the frame or subframe connectors instead of the tail shaft of the tranny? It'd be like a really short torque arm that then splits off to the left and right to connect to the frame of the car

Thats what i was wondering as well. Maybe it (our fantasy torque arm?) is suppose to mount somewhere else making it easier for us to swap rear ends. Im callin bull **** but its still nice to think about.

im calling bs as well...

you won't get any gains out of taking off the torque arm...

you lose .1 in the quarter for every hundred pounds deleted....

the torque arm probably weighs 15lbs....

and even if you want that extra .01.... you would gain more time because of the extra flex...

feel free to bitch slap him now...

There was a thread at least a month ago asking about this kit. As I recall from the website, it basically removes the factory torque arm, and substitues two ladder bars, which are shorter than the stock torque arm.

I have also seen this form of suspension on a very fast (mid 9-second) 3rd Gen, and it caused a bit of an argument, when we "teched" the cars for our "Fastest Stock Suspension F-Body" match a couple years ago. He won the first match (over Madman and George Baxter), and everyone criticized us for letting him run the ladder bars. The second match in the year, we told him he had to run a torque arm, and he showed up with a TA loosely bolted to the rear and the tranny cross-member. But he still had the ladder bars on it. The first launch indicated it was causing suspension problems, but it was immaterial, when he blew the engine up on that pass with too much nitrous.

Not sure what the keywords would be for a "search" on the topic, but there is definitely a kit, and it is 4th Gen F-Body specific. I pointed out to the guy who posted the question that people are running in the 8's with stock "style" torque arm suspensions on 4th Gens, but he blew it off as me not knowing what I was talking about.

[EDIT] Found the thread. Company is South Side Machine
