Yea these cars really move. Been up there near the 150 mark. I like how the mirrors start to shake. It's a lot easier on my R6 though. You have to love 80mph in first gear

Just don't make it a habbit.

Me and a friend were doing 130+ with the top down in my 95 Vert. We hit a wide dip in the road and the car just kind of floated around from one side of the road to the other. Take in the fact I'm driving a rebuilt car and you have the making of one interesting experience to say the least.

My stock LT1 M6 3.42----around 150.
My stock LS1 A4 2.73----around 160.
My heavily modded 91 5.0 Mustang----pegged 160 speedo and kept climbing. Id say around 170 or so. VERY unstable car at that speed. The Camaros were way more stable.

Re: top speed LT1

In my 1996 WS6 TA which came with Z rated tires I maxed out my speedo. Needle actually touched the stopping pin. At the stopping pin I would guess thats around 160 mph. My car was still increasing in speed, and I think I hit 165 at least before I took my foot off the gas. I was on a stretch of highway in Florida that crosses the state from Ft Lauderdale to Ft Myers called Alligator Alley, all swamp land. Its completely flat well paved and there are only two exits during the entire ride. The only police are helicopters on a clear day. It was nightime and no one was in sight, so if anyone would have gotten hurt it would have only been myself. I wouldn't hit those kinds of speeds with other cars in sight or on public streets. I could feel the car lowering the faster I went. Felt like I was hovering on air. It was seriously fun. Would love to get my car on a track someday and max it out again. Now that I have Baer brakes and brand new firehawk tires. Our cars have amazing aerodynamics.

I'd rather a car pass me speeding than to have some ******* riding my blind spot, cutting me off, failing to yeild or merge and all the while yapping on a cell phone...

148 is all I could squeeze out bone stock on a deserted 20 mile stretch of highway through nothing but swampland at 3 am...

Though I admit the car does not feel safe above 130, and you definitely have a death wish to make a habit of going that fast without suspension upgrades.

Try doing that in a vert with the top down. You think the windshield is going to tap you on the head.

Re: top speed LT1

I had my car to about 148/just under 150 a couple times. First time was when it was stock, and it still had quite a bit left in it; it was still easy to tell the speedo was moving. The 2nd time was after my exhaust with 2 people, and it felt a little stronger then the 1st time, even with the extra 375 or so lbs. Now with all the bolt ons, on a cold day, I wouldn't be surprised if it could hit 170mph, but it would probably end up hitting the rev limiter before getting there.
