shouldnt matter what gears you have. The cars with z rated tires are equiped with a fuel shutoff at 152 mph , trust me, lol. Hope this helps, prorac1

The hypertech can also raise your revlimiter, so it might have been raised at one point in time than the program removed, yeah, im sure, if you got the optional tires that were z rated your car had a 152 shut off, and with the lower tires, it was 110. I hit the shut off in mine and it shuts down for a few seconds and coasts, than takes off again. Try it, youll see , prorac1

I have personally never been past 125 or so, but Car And Driver tested a 95 Camaro Z28 at 159 top speed. That seems to be what i have heard that LT1's can do. Not safe to go that fast anyways, imagine having a blowout at that speed................... Dont wanna even think........

Yeah I'm going to have to side with 95z28 -quicksilver here...If you car has the Z rated factory tires and 150 mph guages then you dont have a factory shut off. My pretty much stock 95 got clocked at 162 and its had no programing done to it. Later

160 not a problem

no offence but i didnt ask if it was sfe or not.

i personaly feel safer with the crusie control set at 130 on a long stretch of hiway than driving in houston, your more appt to have a gun pulled on you while sitting in traffic than having a blow out at 130.

I think the governor on these cars is that when you shift into 6th to go even faster it cuts fuel or something. Cuz I can redline it in 5th, not sure how fast im going but well over 150, but as soon as you go into 6th it feels like it just lost 200hp and wont go any further. I know its not cuz the car just doesnt have to power to pull in 6th, i think it cuts fuel, if you look at the program in tunercat you could figure it out, but i dont have a stock program on my computer yet.

first off these cars have a speed limiter, the car does not cut the fuel in 6th the pcm does not monitor the tranny in any way on a 6 speed. the reason the car doesnt pull in 6th is becuase of the drastic gear change. you need more hp to overcome the gear change, theres just not enough power there (stock), put in a cam, heads, and longtubes and see how it does then.

i know i can run 150 mph in 6th at 4200 rpms and it still pulls, (i have a video of it but it is 77 megs and im on dail up.) so if i put a cam in the car it would really be unsafe to top it out because i dont think it would stay on the road. i know i could hit 165 with out much trouble just as the car sits (except having to have my tranny rebuilt).

All I know is I went 145 in mine one time and it scared the hell out of me. The car felt really loose, like it was about to take off. She was still pulling pretty good though. Trying to top out your car is a good way to end up really fuct if you're not careful

damn, i can imagine serious engine damage here. is there anyway to change that to killing the spark? wouldnt that be better than leaning out like that?

do the stock brakes do ok coming down from 150+mph? ive gone 130 a couple times which isnt that great with no brake probs just curious. Also it may matter what kind of car you have, dont formulas have a better drag coefficient than the trans am? also if your car is lowered it would help slightly. I wonder what speed it becomes unsafe to even have your car going in a strait line, wind can pick up cars and toss them around ya know
