too much tension from new springs?

Whats the opinion. I just got a set of mildly ported upgraded set of heads with springs and valves. I'm not sure on the type of springs yet, but have been told that they can handle 530-540 lift. What do you think the chance is that the extra tension will cause me to bend new stock pushrods. Do you think that this extra tension will kill 163,000 mile stock lifters? I don't want to spend too much money on this project, but I also do not want to have to pull it back apart. :-D pulling it back apart later on will for sure cost more than doing this stuff now. Whats the good word?

If your lifters have 163,000 miles on them, I'd definitely change them. Get some stock replacements. Lingenfelter has them for a pretty reasonable price. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was about $130-$140 for the whole set.

What is the seat pressure, spring rate, and valve lift of your combo?

I'm currently waiting on that info. As soon as I get it it will be posted up here. Its sort of a deal in the working. What do you consider too much for a stock cam and lifters?

I'm sure Rich will chime in, but the information I have is that ~130 on the seat is perfect and stock lifters can handle no more than 400 open.

Your first real concern ( delending on what kinda lift your gunna run on ur cam is) Coil bind! Bending ur pushrods should be a conern to tho, But with New lifters (and at 163k i'd hope that u'd replace them) you shouldn't have to worry about that right away (again tho depending on what kinda lift u gunna be running) If u run like a cc 305 cam (like i've got, only the springs i've got are good for .600 lift so i know im in the clear)and if ur springs r good to .540 lift 1.6 RR MIGHT be a concern. (if someone could post the total lift equation) you'd be able to calculate ur total lift with 1.6 RR and find your max spring lift and from there determine wether ur in the clear or not as far as 1.6 RR go...
