Too much Cam?
Too much Cam?
97 camaro z/28 LT1 M6
what do yall think of this cam?
its 40$ so im thinkin of gettin it.
the only specs I know of it are:
294 duration
510 lift
112 lobe seperation
M6 transmission. stock porting. stock valvetrain.
you think this will create big cam surge?
how will it work N/A? nitrous injected?
is the duration too high?
this is the advertised duration.......so what would the duration be at .50?
thanx

I sure as hell hope thats advertised duration. That sounds pretty big, but no way of knowing for sure what the duration at .050 is. A 224/230 is like 272/284 or in that area advertised, so its probably mid 230s/240s @ 50.
Would probably be a little too much on stock heads, it would work fine, but youd have to rev to the moon to get full potential. also that 510 lift seems low for a cam with that much duration, find out more specs on it...but I will still recommend against it, mainly for the reason of being used, and that its the cam.
A lot of people will spend buttloads of cash on little things and heads and such, then go buy an off the shelf cam for $250. IMO that is very dumb, doesnt make sense that people skimp on the most important part of the engine, a perfectly matched cam could mean 20+hp over an off the shelf cam not matched perfectly to your combo.
Ive heard from a cam grinder that he ground a cam he made for an engine, and ordered the exact same duration/lift on an XE lobe from compcams, and the XE was 20hp behind his cam. IMO, save your money and get what will give you what you want, unless you just want your car to sound like it has a cam in it, then get it.
