Too late for heavier Mods ????

Hey guys im at 80,0800 miles right now. I just recieved allot of money and i really want to do stuff to my car but its gettin up there in the miles. I want to order my headers tonight but im not sure if i should just put the money away and save for a new LT1. What do you all think ?

What does the average LT1 make it in miles (a hard driven engine and a soft driven engine)?

Average price of a complete Rebuild ?

Anyone know if there is a vendor/dealer who can sell mac headers pre coated?

Most of them make it past 150,000 with stock internals and regular maintenance....

For bolt-ons like headers, etc, GO FOR IT...

I'm on the better way to 211,000 miles, and I only started modding it about 20k ago. I've not done a rebuild yet, and she's still running strong. I'd say bolt ons are safe. Just think hard about stressing the stock internals.

120K and gonna use 50-75shot of nitrous....bought it at 104K....she's still standing strong, only the damn waterpump is leaking.....and my tranny blew up on me once, because of this stupid mechanic that did not fill the tranny fluid all the way....

My 94,000 mile LT1 went 12.82 completely stock with manifolds. I'm doing a cam/head/headers/nitrous install on the original bottom end this year.

I found an LT1 from G.M. for $6,000, that's with starter, flywheel, alt. ect. Not bad if you have six grand to blow. Go with mods and then save some extra money for when you blow it up.

Are there any reasons why rebuilding it wouldn't be just as effective?

I mean the main parts that see the most wear are replaced...and that's what counts.. it's fixing what ain't broke, the way I see it...

LT1's will run strong up to 150k. The best thing you could do it is put in a new cam and stuff, then you need to rebuild the top end and it will be like new again. The bottom end is so strong that it should be rock solid for a long time. A new LT1 runs about 1900, and they do come with a 4 bolt main. That price was taken from paceparts.com, but I would say mod away now. Headers won't put much stress on the engine, so go for it. Enjoy it while you have it.

Go ahead and do all of the bolt ons. Bolt ons such as headers, induction mods, etc do absolutley nothing to stress an engine. A well maintained LT1 will run for a very long time.
