Too Cold?

Ok guys i have gotten mixed messages everywhere i look. My engine constantly runs at 170-176 degrees and tranny(a4) runs constant 110 degrees.....is this costing me performance and is it bad in any way to my LT1 and 4L60E to run this cold constantly?

highway the engine runs at 170 and 105 for the tranny

Re: Too Cold?

so 170 is fine for the coolant? (not hurting anything and isnt robbing hp?)

tranny fluid should run around 150 but mine sits at 105 when cruising even for hours on end

If you are reading it off your gauge its probably off anyways. My gauge sits alittle over 160 probably about 170. If i turn on the scanmaster it reads 180-185.

Re: Too Cold?

for the coolant, i read it off my freescan logs so i know it runs that cold...the gauge shows half between 160 and 185. (bottom and first tick)

my tranny temp runs so damn cold though...i know its a good thing to have the fluid cold but 105 while cruising...damn thats cold

Re: Too Cold?

also why does tranny fluid heat up much faster when driving in 3rd(D) rather than 4rth(OD)..is it bc the convertor is always spinning in D?

Re: Too Cold?

Start making burnouts and WOT all the time and you will see it go up.
