Tons of smoke coming from cat area

I have a ton of smoke burning off of my cat area and it seems like it only gets worse. I am not sure what is leaking. I thought it might be intake related but the intake seems pretty clean on the back except for a little gunk and the oil pressure/level are ok. I thought its possible to be trans fluid which my pan may be leaking. I tightened up all the screws but its still doing it.

It appears to be oil on my cat that is burning off because there is always fluid on it. can anyone tell me how to find out exactly what is leaking?

Ok it is definentally oil. I saw some on the ground and my oil is down 1 quart.

How do i differentiate between intake leak, rear main, and other types of oil leaks?

It smokes at the cat area and also under the hood at the rear of the engine.

Re: Tons of smoke coming from cat area

mine did that when oil was leaking off the back of the engine on to the y pipe. look for a clean run area from where the oil comes out. it wont be rough and gritty it'll be a little cleaner. pop the cover off the tranny that houses the torque converter and have someone put the car in nuetral and run it while youre under there to see if anything is coming out. just be careful with jackstands and keeping the car in nuetral and not getting squashed!

Check your oil filter, it may be loose. I've had that happen before.
