Tires on Stock Salad Shooters
Tires on Stock Salad Shooters
I'm on a budget, and will be needing tires pretty soon, and it pretty much came down to these three:
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 - cheapest
Falken ZIEX ZE-512 - middle
Yokohama AVS ES100 - most expensive
What do you guys have to say about these tires, are they any good? Which ones have you had better experience with?
Is it worth going from stock 245/50/16 to 255/50/16?

I was pricing tire recently and were i live there is a cost-co (like a sam's club) and they sell BFgoodrich KDWS for 135 each installed
then cheapest i have seen them was 200. the only problem is membership is 55 but you still save about 150 you have killer rubber on your car an you get a membership at cost co (they have some nice tools too)

Ive got kumhos on my car, 275/40/17 and they suck. I had falkin before and loved them, they were a 245/50/16 and hooked better than the kumhos. I work at a tire shop and the falkins seem to be pretty good tires.
My philosophy: Buy performance tires for performance driving, like on a RACETRACK. I have the Kumho's on my Z for daily driving. They work just fine, and have excellent tread life. I have sticky tires for racing on an extra set of wheels.
....I have the Khumo 712's on my car now and like them. Used to have the BFG KD's {both in 275/40/17's}. I had good luck with both. The last time I bought tires the BFG's were almost $275 a piece so I went with the Khumo's. If you can get the BFG's for $135? GO FOR IT! ..... Bill...
Suprisingly, Pep Boys has some kickass Z-Rated tires. Kumhos were dead in 6 months on my car with only 1 burnout. Unless your tires are showing cords, I would try to save the extra 50-100 and get some good tires.
I have Kumho 712 275/40-ZR17's on my '95 Z28 and they rock. I can't compare them to any of your other options though. I would say that they are better than GSC's, they have excellent dry traction, even more excellent when hot, poor wet traction, and no all-season value at all. Great handling too. FWIW.
Costco BFG gforce KDWS
If there is a Costco in your area, you might want to check out the BFG g-force KDWS. I just bought mine there Sunday.
