tires - bigger on the rears?

my 94 z has 255's on the rears and 245's on the fronts with stock rims. Is this normal? should i just go with all 245's all around with my new tires?

thanks

245/50/16 is normal. I perfer to have the tire size all the same for rotating reasons.

In my opinion you can just go with 245's all the way around. That's the size they all come stock. That way you can rotate the tires if need be. Ya know just in case the rear ones get a little worn down for some reason. Also I don't think the added width of 255's will even make a difference in traction, probably not even noticable.

There is nothing wrong with having slightly wider tires on the rear. Depending on how you use your car it may be a slight advantage or it may nbe of no consequence. The amount of difference is so minimal it wouldn't matter even if you did rotate them. I have 28 x 12.5 x 15 on the back and 28 x 7 1/2 x 15 on the front.

I'm not saying added width wouldn't give you a traction advantage. But the minimal width of 245's to 255's probably isn't even worth the added price of the tire or probably even a noticable traction increase. Just my opinion.
