Tire Size for my '97 Camaro SS
Tire Size for my '97 Camaro SS
I am looking to replace my current "really really bald" tires with GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. Unfortunately, the exact tire size for my car (275/40-17) is on backorder for a minimun of 8 weeks. I was wondering if anyone has put or knows if you can put 285/40-17 size tires on this size rim without any issues.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Wait... what does the width of the tire have to do with the speedometer? It's the diameter of the wheel plus the sidewall hight is it not? With 285 vs 275 his speedometer should read the exact same. I mean if you put bicycle wheels and tires on that still have the same overall diameter (outside dia. of wheel plus sidewall hight of tire) it would still do one full rotation in the same amount of time correct? Maybe I'm just full of it.

No okay say you bought a set of 275/45/16 alright then you bought another set 285/45/16. Got it so far the 275 stands for diameter and the 45 stands for the aspect ratio wich means its width is 45% of the diameter of the tire. gots it

Has anyone tried putting 18's in the rear and keep the 17 x 9.5's in the front. I was thinking about putting 18 x 10 or 11's in the rear to fill up the wheel well. So what do you guys think?
