Tire rim and tire ?

I have a set of 17 inch wheels with a spacing of 7.5" between the lips of the wheels and 8" from outer lip to outer lip. I spent way too much on the motor and trans this winter so I am short on cash to buy my drag radials until next month. I have a new set of P225/R55/17 tires that where given to me. Will they work on these rims for about a month. I was going to put them on the rear.

It appears from your dimensions you bought 17x7.5" wheels.... not a good idea... those are narrower than the stock wheels (16x8") and are going to be too small for serious drag radials. The only sizes BFG makes in 17" DR's are 275/40-17 (at least 9" wheel required) and 315/35-17 (at least 11" wheel required). A 7.5" rim is wayyyyy too narrow. And, the thin sidewall of 17" tires is not a good way to go for max straight line traction.

As far as the 225/55's, they are OK for a rim width of 6" to 8", so no problem there. They are more than 1/2" smaller in diameter than stock, so your speedo will read 61.5mph at an actual 60mph.

Thanks for the info. Looks like my Zr1 wheels will be coming sooner than I thought.
