tire questions

i'm gettting a set of 17 x 9.5 torq thrust 2's and was wondering what tires would be best. I'd like to go 275, 40, 17 all around but i'm up for suggestions. also if we could keep the total price under 600 that be great. i'm lookin for a tire with great bite on take off to show any challengers whats up, but i also need something with good wet traction as i live in buffalo ny.

Yeah but the Goodyear GS-d3's run like 250 a pice. I just got mine last month. The 275's is the stock size the SS come with. Thats a good size. Go to Tirerack.com. They're cheap and shipping is decent also.

did you have to do anything inorder to fit the 315's or 285's. I was told to go with 275's. also would 315 fit on a 17 x 9.5" rim?

No you need an 11" rim to fit the 315's. The biggest tires your will hold is a 285. The 285s will work from what I hear. Haven't installed mine yet.

I have some pep boys tires not bad for 100. Try to get the KDWS or the KUMHO ASX both all season. I have used one kdws and there good. I would go with of the these 3 tires.....

I got 285/40/17 Firestone SZ50s for $660 from Tire Rack. They fit nice on 9.5s.

Check tire track i think there like 149 for 285/17, so thats not bad. Try them. Great treadwear at 400.

Since you're up for suggestions...

I got the Sumitomos, only have a few thousand miles on them though. Cant say they "bite" all that well, but they are awesome on wet road and awesome on light snow! Gotta put some more miles on them to see how they hold up though. They are about $80 ea.

The best grip you can get in a streetable tire. Granted they will only last you about 10-12K miles before the tread is to low for rain use, but they are also only $161 shipped for each tire in a 275/40. Considering that a true ultra high performance "street" tire like the BFG KDs or GY GS-D3s will probably only last 15-20K miles, and cost more money, it really balances out. I buy tires more often, but I pay a little less for each tire, and have grip that is superior to any true street tire.
