tips for pulling an A4??

heh.. I'm doing a motor swap for a friend and well... need to pull the tranny . Do I just unbolt the three convertor bolts to detach it from the flywheel??

I've done way too many manual trannies - though this will be my first A4 to work on. All that's left is the tranny and headers. Figure I'll get it done tonight.

Any tips on what to / not to do?

Its not hard at all...
1. Take off the inspection cover and undo the three bolts for the converter.
2. Disconnect all the sensors
3. Unscrew the tranny cooler lines on the passenger side midway up the tranny
4. Take out the tranny to motor bolts....Im assuming these are a pain with an M6 too but these are defenitly a pain to get to with an A4. I had to use about 2 feet of extentions to get mine to come out...
5. Slide the tranny out from underneath the car. The TC should come out with the tranny on the input shaft...

Thumbs up

Thanks.. it's done and on the garage floor pretty easy. Easier than a speed even.

Except for that middle left bolt. Nothing a little coaxing w/ a crowbar didn't fix though.

I used lots of extensions to get to the top bolts from the back of the tranny & a universal this is with the tranny lowered by taking the tranny cross member out ofcoarse (4 bolts).

its kinda fun
