Angry timing set off one tooth!!!!

AHHH!!!! I'm 99% sure my timing set is off a tooth. Do me a favor and give me some of the usual symptoms or this annoying problem. My car starts, and seems like it idles ok (i have a 230/236 so it's hard to tell).. When i get moving it has zero hp. It kinda bucks a little bit when i'm rolling, and it back fires like crazy when i let off the gas.

I know you guys have been here and done that, so let me know what your problems were....thanks guys

trav

By the way, i figured out that hanging RPM prolbem...it was the idle set screw.

sounds like you have a couple of plug wires swapped. I know it sounds stupid or to easy, but this happed to a buddy of mine. He did a hotcam swap and ported his heads. He put the motor back in and it ran fine for the first 5 to 10 min. then it just started to back fire like crazy. You give it some gas and it got worse. Turned out two of the plug wires were swapped. I actually could not believe it ran that well with two wires swapped.

Lt1 timing is not adjustable nor is there a distributor to set a tooth off.

Well technically you could install the opti with the pin in the wrong hole, and it would produce a similar effect as if you installed a normal distributor wrong. Probably screw up the opti as well.
