Exclamation Timing cover crank seal Question

I am doing a cam change and always before went with a new timing cover from GM but this time i went with the felpro gasket kit... My question is why are the crank seals diffrent, the one from felpro is dry and the one from GM has grease around it which one is better and will create less leaks later on... Thanks ....Chris.

I never seen a brand new gm seal. I replaced my stock seal with the felpro. I rubbed alittle assembly lube on it before installing the hub. I would think this is the only reason the gm seal has lube on it. The lube is history when you start the motor anyway.

I've used both GM and Felpro - both had grease. If my memory is correct, both are identical and probably made by the same company.

Strange you don't have grease.....
