i have a quick question abut my car...ok i have cam...stall exahust and tune, now my question is what would happen if my car has the stock timing chain and it is beginning to stretch on me? i spin it to around 6600 shift...would it stretching cause rick lean poor throttle responce..ect???
it was a brand new one put in with the cam its about 8k old but 20-30plus races...any imput???
im tryin to figure why with a cc306 i only made 305 315???

what kind of exhaust? please dont say stock manifolds and a catback! Check and make sure your not having any timing retard over false noise in the motor.

 

I made 335/350 with whats in my my sig. I think thats low but I was wayyy lean. 15.0 and worse.

My stock new oem replacement chain was stretched to hell and **** and back with considerably less than 10k on it. I know it was causing problems and should have boke already....


My take on it now is that anything other than stock do a double roller and elec water pump. Thats my view though.... please something better than stock though.

 

This is always an area of debate. I ran my stock chain for 10 years in my LPE 383. Last year when we freshened the top end we just replaced the stock chain with another stock chain at LPEs suggestion. How do you know that the chain is stretched? They have a little more play than the double roller stuff even when they are new...

Comparing how much side to side play the chin had between the gears. My factory 120k one had some. New one put on had almost none. Now that one has more slack than the 120k one.

May not be "necessary" for everyone, but I won't be putting another stock on.

I would imagine that most of it is dependent on rpms and such.

 

no thats full exhaust i have springs all that stuff...but on the dyno it made 305 315 and was around 9:1 to 10:1 till about 5200...then it started leaning to 12:1 and peaked out... koolest thing is the hp bar looks exactly like the a/f ratio bar

First that is not the right timing set for you. Next is do you have any data logs from your dyna pull

 

sorry no data logs...but can you send me the link to the correct timing chain? i am probably going to replace it anyways for ease of mind

Sounds to me like you need the car tuned. 9 - 10 AFR is pig rich, even 12 AFR is probably too rich for an NA engine.

 

the motor is tuned...the tune isnt the problem...its a sensor or mechanical problem causing this...and i dont believe the car is giving me any codes and runs pretty smoothe...
