Question Timing Chain question

I have a lt4 hotcam. Do I need to get a lt4 timing chain kit or will the stock be enough for this cam?

Depending on how high you plan on reving that hotcam, which I don't think will be anything above 6k. Stock is fine, or better yet, a stock replacement. My stock chain had a ton of slack in it. There's always the Lunati set you could grab, but I would recommend against that.

But, if you do wanna go with the HD set; you'll need to upgrade the timing cover, cam dowel pin length, vented-opti, and so forth on 95+.

You can't just do that... The crank sprocket is exactly half the size of the cam sprocket. 1 revolution for crank = 2 revolutions for cam.

here's the reason I asked
oversized sprocket

says that it works with the stock LT1 chain. Don't know much about this stuff though.

Yes Cloyes offers the oversized sprocket to take the slack out of the chains. GM's tolerences are a little looser that's why the stock chains have a little more slack in them.

Call Wayne Gray at Cloyes and talk to him.

He set me up with one and that's what I use on my motor with the LT4 Extreme duty chain kit.

Tell him Tony from Johnny Lightning Diecast cars told you to call him.

What is it about the Lunati that you don't like?

I'm in the market for a chain and was looking at this one over a stock replacement.

IMO, they're no better than a stock replacement. They may have less slack... I've seen where a few times on here, they've broke on guys and ended up bending some valves and what not. I've seen some guys have good luck with it, really depends on what kinda setup you're going with.
