LT1 Based Engine Tech 1993-1997 LT1/LT4 Engine Related

Which timing chain is needed for HotCam install? LT4 or LT1 stock replacement?

I am taking apart my motor now from what looks like the LT1 sprocket set taking a **** on me... I saw teeth from the gear in the intake manifold. I wouldn't suggest going stock LT1 set after doing so and 500 miles later rebuilding lots... but I wouldn't blame it all on the timing set... until I see it

93-94 people must do a vented opti conversion to upgrade the timing set (unless you want to spend several hundred dollars alone on special aftermarket cam sprocket). The 93-94 opti is driven off splines in the stock cam gear. 95 and later are not. The Cloyes, LT4, etc., do not have the splines and will not work for a direct swap.

I haven't had any trouble with my chain. All I did was buy a new LT1 chain.
