Timing chain cover seals
Timing chain cover seals
Hey guys. Do you think it would be easier to change the seals in the timing chain cover or buy the whole thing wit the seals installed? I have heard it both ways.Yes mine is leaking like most peoples. BTW my car is a 95 Z28.
Re: Timing chain cover seals
With the cover off it's pretty simple to just bang the seals out and then push the new ones back in. A new cover is about $60 isn't it? Not worth the extra 40. Just get the seals and clean / paint your cover if you want it to look new.
Re: Timing chain cover seals
just change the seals. the only hard part is seperating the oil pan gasket from the timing cover. even if you got a cover with the seals, you would still have to deal with this so save your money and just replace the seals.
Re: Timing chain cover seals
The point of changing just the seals in the cover would be to save from removing the cover, and messing with dropping the pan etc..
It can be done with the cover in place, and I would say it's a lot easier than removing it..
The water pump seal is tricky to get right.. I'd buy 2 just in case..
