timing chain cover 3pin black female connector??

I just bought a '94 Formula that will not run because of an alleged ignition problem. As I was checking it out, I found a black female 3 pin connector on the bottom passenger side of the timing chain cover. The last 4th gen I had was a '93 Z28 that I sold about 8 years ago so I'm having to relearn a few things. Is there a plug that connects to this? If so, I can't find one. I don't remember this on my '93.

Thanks.

The only device that is physically located on the timing cover is the crank position sensor, but they were only used 96/97. Is it possible someone swapped in a 96/97 engine?

yes, good call!!!

As a matter of fact, it looks like a crank position sensor now that you say that.

Thanks
