Timing Chain Choice, HELP

Basics: Doing heads and Cam and getting a new timing chain

I have looked into a few and it seems the Lunati One is only 108 dollars... but after calling Lunati they said "it should fit"

Everyone else like Cloytes and everyone else has different years for differnt chains... IE 92-93 is one style chain 94-95 is another style blah blah... Lunati only has one chain, Will it or wont it work with my Stock style Waterpump The Cloytes is like 3x the cost of the Lunati's and i dont think the chain is 3 times better, and even if it is i really bout itll make THAT much of a difference..

Anyone thats used the Lunati Timing chain or has any other options for me for a 93 Lt1 with a stock waterpump Please chime in

Thanks, -Mike

Stay away from the Lunati. Basically a stock replacement that sucks. Go grab a Cloyes or LT4 HD, get the LT4 if you're staying with a stock pump. Get either if you're going electric pump.

*Cloyes is only like $90 from Combo and is a double roller.

Dont forget anything besides the LT4 heavy duty requires an Electric H2O pump and plugging the hole in the timing cover. But when the HD is $279 or whatever, its worth it to get a true roller and a $139 CSI pump

You also need to go to a vented 95-7 opti to do the above..

Just a 95, the 96-97 timing cover are different for the crank sensor and I think the crank hole may be smaller, not sure though.

Timing chain

Also for 93-94 you need a 95-97 timing cover to put a HD Lt4 timing chain on.

Also I own a 93 Camaro Z28 does anyone know if you can put a vented opti with out changing the timing cover.

I'm not sure which Cloyes chain you're referring to for 3x as much as Lunati but I used the Cloyes double roller chain for SB chevys and it was only $80 from Summit, I did have to use an electric wp with it though, got a CSI from Jegs for $135.

Are you trying to say he needs a 95 timing cover, not a 96 or 97?
If so, I agree..
My point was that he can't use the unvented early 93-94 opti..
but needs to upgrade to vented[ avail in 95-7]
But yes the TC would be the 95 p/n only for that conversion..

Why cant you use a 96-97 timing cover. I have one waiting to go on mine (got a good deal on it), just welded the CPS hole up. I doubt the crank hole is smaller, but if Im mistaken, someone who knows let me know.

I'm just going by this. It looks smaller to me.

Nah, it just seems that way to you, I dont see it, plus it doesnt say anything about it changing and I was 99% sure it was identical except for the CPS hole anyway.
