Timing Chain

Can you use the the chain for the LT4/LT1 Extreame duty (pn 14088783) set on stock LT1 gears? My motor only has 70k miles on it, I dont see a need to replace the gears but please inform me if wrong. Also the chain sold in the extreame duty kit is just a SB Chevrolet Roller Timing Chain. This would be accompanying a hot cam that will not spin any higher than 6200ish rpms.

No, the chain is not compatible. The ED chain is a roller chain and the stock chain is a link belt. IMHO, you should always change the timing set, not individual pieces. A wear pattern is created between all parts as they age.

Thank you! What about the oversize crank pulley... is it really needed?

I was impressed with the design of the GMPP LT1/LT4 ED set (over the oem version). I installed mine years ago while doing a fresh cam. I think you would be pleased.
