timing chain

timing chain

i am about to do an le1 swap on my 95 camaro and was wondering when i change the timing chain can i just replace the chain or do i have to get the gears too. also the chain would be from an lt4 so if i can just swap the chain is this chain alright.thanks

The chain and gears should be swapped as a set. I think it's kind of like rear end gears, once the wear pattern is established, you don't want to just change one gear, you want to change both if that's required.

You cant put an LT4 chain on an LT1 sprocket either

The LT4 chain is not the only thing that is different in the set either. The LT4 cam sprocket went to a solid mass design versus the webbed design on the LT1 set: http://www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm

any sugestions on what timing setto use, i know cloyes has one for 80 is that alright to use

If you use the cloyes, you'll need a 95 vented setup and an electric waterpump.
