timing chain
Helped a buddy this weekend replace his timeing chain. To me the chain feeled really loose you could push the side of the chain (parts the are not riding on the sprockets) in about a 1/2 on each side, is that normal?? We have not got to putting the new one on yet. Correct me if im wrong do you think my friends car will run better or stronger with replaceing the really loose timing chain, Not think it will give more power just thinking might run better with a tighter chain

Re: timing chain
LT-1's have a loose chane anyway. If ya replace anything, replace it as a set 2 sprockets and a chain.
Ya can get a Cloyes with standard SBC crank gear(they call it oversize) as an LT-1 has a smaller size GM spect gear and are made by Cloyes.

Re: timing chain
Also the timing cover and opti-spark drive are 92-93 model but the motor is a 94 do you guys think its alright or is that something off the wall to have it mixed matched. The cover has two small hole one big instead of two big one small. And the opti-spark is drive by a splined driveshaft instead of a large dowel pin
