Timing Belt on an LT1?

I'm trying to sell my car, and I had someone ask me if the timing belts been changed? Do our cars have a timing belt? If not, then what would it be called on our cars...I know my wifes honda has a timing belt, just never heard of a timing belt for our cars.
Thanks.

Nope, LT1's have a timing chain, not a belt.

At least not until you break one.

What he said. I wouldn't trust a stock chain past 150k. Once you get into heads/cams/nitrous/etc that numbers shrinks bigtime.

My point was that on many engines with a timing belt it is stated in the manual to replace it at like 60K or so, there is no stated interval for a chain. As with any mechanical part it can wear and break, but it will be awhile, in a non-performance application chains can often outlast the rest of the vehicle, whereas even in those applications belts are periodically replaced. We tend to replace chains only when we decide the current cam is too small, which for some of us might be once a year or so . I put a ZZ3 cam in late last summer and plans are in the works to go bigger.
