time chain vs. timing gears

time chain vs. timing gears

well since i am replaceing a few things in that area i figured i would change the timing chain too. which one should i go for? I have heard before that the noise produced by the gears interfiers with the opti is this true?

Yes its partially true. The noise doesnt affect the opti though. It affects the timing by the Knock sensor picking up noise and sending it to the computer which tells it to pull timing out. The only way I know to get around this is modifying your spark retard tables in the computer. The LT4 knock module still picks up the noise as Knock.

besides editing the retard tables in the computer is there any other way arounfd that? then if not what is the best timing chain to get for 94 z?
