Tie rod end dust covers???

I just installed all new front bushings in the car including the tie rod dust cover. I went with Energy Suspension for all of it but the new dust covers seem like they may not be fitting right. Anybody else ever run the Energy Suspension dust covers? The factory ones have a metal ring that holds them in place, but the new ones just slide over. I installed all of it and got the car all back together and they look good now, but I think they may start to ride up a bit. ANybody have any experience with these??

I replaced my outter tie rod end boots couple months ago, it did seem that the factory boots were attached to the ends in some way, so I used a razor blade and cut away the stock boots the best I could, slipped on the new boots and attached the ends. so far no problems, boots stay in place and havent come apart.

Yeah Its not exactly that theyre attached, its just that there is a small ridge that the boot can't pass over (you can slide them in the opposite direction slightly, and then you can see the slight rise). Did you guys put clamps on the end of the boots or just leave them?
