ticking under load

There is a slight ticking when the car is under load. More noticeable in lower RPMs (especially when tq converter is locked up) If I put in neutral and rev there is no ticking, throughout all RPMs. What do you guys think the problem could be?

Car is a a 94 formula. Only big mods are LE2 heads, CC306 with Comp "R" lifters... I'm pretty sure the lifters are before the bad batch though.

When it comes to "ticking" I start looking for exhaust leaks. A loose manifold or header bolt can cause a tick. Also, a tick that is much more noticable under load.

Thats what my buddy said he thought it was too (exhaust leak). I think i'll end up replacing the header gaskets and do a tune up to see what happens. Thanks both of you for the input!
