Ticking noise out of the exhaust

Recently, I bought a 96 WS6 with LT's and Dynomouth dumped before the axle. Its had a ticking noise since Ive gotten it. It sounds exactly like an exhaust leak but comes out of the exhaust tip. There is no ticking noises at the front of the car, only out back. Ive popped the valve covers and the springs look good and theres plenty of oil circulation. There is a small stumble at lower rpm's as well but the car pulls smoothly from roughly 2500rpm's on. Im sure this is related but Im not exactly sure how. Overall, the car runs great. Its just annoying that I cant figure out what the noise is. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

This is just an idea, but with headers, the *ticking* and the noticeable stumble at low RPMs, have you checked for a plug wire yet? when i put headers on, even tho i zip tied wires, i almost immediatly burnt one. when its fairly dark outside, start the car and check under the hood to see whats going on just to be sure. Other than that, i have no suggestions seeing as the tick only comes out of the tips. Its very baffling, good luck to all of you.

Valves opening and letting the exhaust charge out, for each cylinder, then closing. Just the sound of the hot gasses quickly leaving your cylinders. I heard it like no body's business when I did H/C/LT's on my 96 and ran it with open headers. It went away when I put the cat back on. Seeing how true duals with bullet mufflers aren't that many more exhaust components than open headers, it makes sense you can still hear the noise.

As for the stumbling, may be due to something completely unrelated.

Just my 2 cent guess.

I have true duals and I had the ticking sound also. It was an arcing plug wire. It also stumbled at low RPM.

Exactly, with the symptoms you describe, id really check the plug wires first since it would be a relativly easy fix.

a exhaust leak at the manifold will give you a ticking noise like a lifter. If it's not the plug wires I would check there next.

You mention you only hear the noise out back, is the exhaust clearance properly and not resting on or contacting anything?
