thunder racing oversized crank sprocket?

im getting the gm extreme duty timing chain thunger offers and oversized crank sprocket because they said theirs still too much slack.....has anyone used this? and is it worth the $40 to get it?

i got it. I would highly suggest getting it. Why have your performance hurt by poor timing.

There CAN be too much play, depending on the engine. I'd try it, maybe won't need the Cloyes p/n S645 oversized crank gear.

At first it seemed like mine had way to much slack in it. But once I got it on the right way, seated right and everything, it was fairly tight. I didn't see the need to go any tighter I think it would of just made it more of a pta to get it on.

When I installed the GMPP LT1/LT4 ED timing set, there was no slack. The GM stuff in the set worked fine for me.

My Cloyes double-roller was a very snug fit.

timing chain

The GM set is made by Cloyes but the crank gear is to GM spect(Small)The Cloyes set comes with a standard crank gear and people call it oversize-- it would be as compared to a GM set-- but not to a standard set.There is a few thousand's difference and should fit OK.An oversized set or short chain is for engines that have been line bored which sets the crank centerline closer to the cam.
