Thrust Bearing Play?

How much play are you allowed for the thrust bearing. I am was in the process of pulling my crank hub off. And noticed I could move my crank.... I am pretty sure my thrust bearing is shot. What do you guys think about this.

I usually don't settle for anything less than .004" thrust clearance during assembly.

No, stock crank. And I got way excessive clearance on that then. I am not totaly sure how it happend. But yet I still got great oil pressure.
