Throwout Bearing

I was told by someone that some cars have a grease fitting on the throwout bearing and can be greased without taking the transmission apart. Does the Camaro 6-speed have any acess to the throwout bearing short of replacing it? If it does not can someone give me an honest descripition of how difficult removing the transmission is and replacing this part. How long will it take and do I need any special tools? Can everything be done from under the car or is it necessary to remove the shifter from the inside? I know these are probably dumb questions but it is all new to me. I have a friend who is a mechanic that would be performing the bulk of the work but I just wanted an idea of what to expect and if there is any other possible fix. Thank you

The throwout bearing can't be greased without taking the tranny out. It's not that hard to take out. Maybe a few hours tops. Why do you need to grease it?

Well, it is making a considerable amount of noise but the car really has no miles on it. Do you think it could go bad just from setting? Is there a particular brand or model of throw out bearing I should replace it with or just the standard GM part?

This is a common problem with the throw out bearing, (noise) espcially after a new clutch and bearing goes in the car. Some people have switched it 5 or more times to get one that is slient. If yours is some what quiet i would let it be, the new one could be worse. The first one i had after the clutch went in was obnoxious, switched it, and this one is still noisey but not as bad. It quieted down a little over time. If it isnt bad, i wouldnt worry about it, for fear that it may worse off when you change it.
