Throwing code 1441 with Smog removed
Throwing code 1441 with Smog removed
Wow it has been a long time since I have been on this board. The board has been tons of help over the years and I am back yet again.
I am throwing code 1441 but all the emission equipment is removed. I would assume this would make the diagnoses a little easier but who knows? Any thoughts? Thanks a lot. -Matt

P1441 indicates that the vacuum switch for the EVAP system is detecting a vacuum in the EVAP system when the EVAP purge solenoid is suppose to be closed. When you removed "all the emissions equipment", did you remove the EVAP solenoid? This code is most often caused by having the two vacuum lines on the EVAP solenoid switched. It can also be cause by the solenoid being stuck open.

Thanks for the response. I will have to check the things that you mentioned and at the moment I can't recall what all we removed and did not remove. The car didn't originally throw any codes so I don't think the hoses are reversed.
You may be right I just looked at the Canister purge Solenoid Valve and my bottom hose is running to the throttle body. However my car is a 96 and it doesn't look quite the same. I don't have my manual to tell you where the other hose from the Solenoid Valve runs to. It runs to some other "unit" then a hose runs from there into the plastic where the fuel lines are.
I just had this problem. The top line on the purge solenoid needs to go to the throttle body. Bottom to the canister. It was one of Injuneer's posts that solved it for me too.
I mistakenly reversed them when putting my engine back in my car.
